Frutiger Family Aesthetics
We frequently find everyone especially Skeuoss fans (thank you for the support!!!) confused when any of the Frutiger subgenres get brought up.
Yep! Frutiger Aero may be the main attraction but don't be fooled. There are so many other aesthetics that you might just now be learning about. Or maybe you consider most of these a joke but at least you leave here with the context needed next time you come across a post or store item of ours directly labeling one of these!
This seems like a lot, and pointless to some, but I promise you it’s actually super easy to grasp the differences and why they aren’t just flatly considered “Frutiger Aero”. They all stand out on their own but also have a common theme. Nostalgia for specific memories rests strongly among these sub-genres and we all dearly miss when they were the everyday norm.

Frutiger Aero
"Our Promised Future"

Frutiger Aero is the main aesthetic our brand was built from. Taking Skeuomorphism, Glossy textures (bonus points if you get the easter egg!) and blending them with vibrancy, we are met with the instantly recognizable 3D design aesthetic that capitalized the early 2000s after Y2K.
In retrospect, we took it for granted as now we face minimalism across the corporate world. In 2017, we finally found a name for this design. Coined after Adrian Frutiger and the Windows Aero interface, Frutiger Aero was born as a nostalgic aesthetic that modern audiences can both resonate with and reflect back on when it was prevalent.

Frutiger Metro
We gonna break things down to the club scene!!!

Frutiger Metro took things in a flatter approach, taking the design into a new direction... A more "urban" direction. Instead of the iconic skeuomorphic designs, we are met with vibrant vector graphics that dominate the visuals with constant eye candy.
For that reason, it recently adopted a more fitting name in other circles: Vectordelia.
Where Aero satisfied the masses, Metro was popular among younger audiences as most advertising utilized this design to grab their attention.

DORFic
Daylight, Orange, Red, Futurism, and Graphic

DORFic is more abstract than everything else in the Frutiger Family. In fact, it borders on minimalism back when people preferred sticking with 3D designs. This is a much more industrial aesthetic. Something you expect to see everywhere associated within a corporate workplace especially in advertising.
Honestly, DORFic is a fan favorite and definitely our favorite sub-aesthetic that we try to show everyone as frequently as possible.
Helvetica Aqua Aero
"I just want to be part of your symphony!!!!!"

This has nothing to do with seapunk, I promise. Helvetica Aqua taps into the more oceanic aspects of Frutiger Aero. While maintaining the familiar visuals that make up the Frutiger Family, it incorporates aspects of marine wildlife, corals, and anything commonly associated with beaches and oceans.
High chances are, you found this sub-aesthetic from that trending meme and we don't blame you at all.

Technozen
"Why not take a break? You can pause the game by pressing +"

Believe it or not, there actually is a label for the calm, simple aesthetic you used to see in older Nintendo consoles! Or more specifically the sophisticated interiors you would find commonly across Japan during the early 2000s. In a sense, Japan adopted their own Frutiger Aero.
Japanese Frutiger Aero? YES PLEASE!

Frutiger Eco
Always make sure to turn on energy saving settings on your device.

Within a glance, Frutiger Eco isn't too separated from Aero. In fact, it largely maintains the same aesthetic but with a more Eco-friendly touch! The environment is the main focus for this sub-aesthetic, often using graphics with lush greenery and civilization with minimal environmental impact as it's priority to encourage the viewer to be more conscious of the planet we live in.
No seriously, make sure to keep your energy saving features on. We don't want your power bill to explode.

Dark Aero
"It's not a princess, it's a robot."

The dark variant of Frutiger Aero that was commonly associated with modern tech in the early 2000s. Often incorporating the same glassy aero textures but primarily using darker tones as a base with vibrancy to emphasize a sleek contrast.
"How it feels to chew 5--"

Frutiger Aurora
Windows Vista boot up sound plays

Have you ever owned a Windows device in the early 2000s and remember the iconic aurora backgrounds? That's just one example that is sure to instantly become recognizable for what this aesthetic represents. Vibrant and Abstract auroras bring a sense of easy to process familiarity that can be easily be your permanent background in all your devices.
Did you ever change your default wallpaper?

Frutiger Glacier
Does anyone have a polar pop?

Also named Cyber Glacier, it focuses on the winter and icy parts of Frutiger Aero. Some people don't consider this a real aesthetic anymore but Skeuoss recognizes it for what it is and will NOT take that chilly slander.
It's actually freezing over here...
Frutiger Jolly
Happy Holidays!!!

Now this one we double down on being a genuine sub-aesthetic. It combines the best of both Frutiger Aero and Frutiger Metro aesthetics within a Christmas theme, marking it a perfect aesthetic to have active during the holiday season.
It's Christmas year round at Skeuoss.
Frutiger Evil
Aero has never been this spooky before!

In the fall season, especially during Halloween, Frutiger Evil became a frequent fan-created sub-aesthetic. Taking all the aspects that makes Frutiger Aero and plummeting it's visual goodwill down to the most apocalyptic concept art creativity of a kind mind can come up with.
To us, Frutiger Evil is a genuine testament that fans really are what makes the Frutiger Family blossom for the world to see. And we are entirely here for it!
